Joel's Army of God is on the March
요엘과 진군하는 하나님의 군대
God states that the prophesies of the Bible confirm His word. Speaking through the great Prophet Isaiah, God said that, "I am God and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, from ancient times what is still to come, saying my counsel shall stand." (Is 46:9-10, NKJV)
하나님은 당신의 말씀이 성경의 예언을 통하여 확인된다고 하십니다. 위대한 선지자였던 이사야를 통해 하나님은 다음과 같이 말씀하십니다: “나는 하나님이라 나 같은 이가 없느니라. 내가 시초부터 종말을 알리며 아직 이루지 아니한 일을 옛적부터 보이고 이르기를 나의 뜻이 설 것이니 내가 나의 모든 기뻐하는 것을 이루리라 하였노라.” (이사야 46:9-10, 개역한글)
Many ancient prophets as well as the Apostles John and Paul, and even Jesus Himself described a great and terrible end of time battle between good and evil. God, speaking through the Prophet Joel, said that in the season leading into the End Time war He would raise up a great army of individuals equipped with supernatural powers.
여러 옛 선지자들은 물론 요한과 바울 같은 사도들과 심지어 예수님까지 말세에 선과 악 사이에 있을 매우 크고 혼란스러운 전쟁을 묘사합니다. 선지자 요엘을 통해 하나님은 말세가 임박한 시기에 초자연적인 힘을 가진 개인들로 구성된 위대한 군대를 일으킬 것이라고 하십니다.
Joel 2:1-11 prophesied, Blow the trumpet in Zion! For the day of the LORD is coming. A people come, great and strong, the like of whom the world has never seen. So mighty are they that it seems a fire devours in front of them and the land is left desolate in their wake, and the faces of their foes are drained of color. They climb walls like men of war. Every one marches in formation and they do not break ranks, yet each one marches in his own path.
요엘 2장 1~11절이 예언하기를 “여호와의 날이 이를 것이니 나팔을 불으라”고 합니다. 옛날에도 없었고 이후에도 없을 많고 강한 백성이 이를텐데 불이 그들의 앞을 사르겠고 불꽃이 그들의 뒤를 태워 그들이 지나간 땅은 황폐한 들 같아질 것이라 예언합니다. 그들은 무사같이 성을 기어 오를 것이고 적의 낯빛이 창백해질 것이라 합니다. 그들은 그 줄을 이탈하지 않되 각자 자기의 길을 걸을 것입니다.
Joel further describes that there will be an unprecedented outpouring of the Holy Spirit, called a Latter Rain. (Joel 2:23) After this, God promises, "I will pour out My Spirit on all humanity, then your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will have dreams, and your young men will see visions." (HCSB)
계속하여 요엘은 예전에는 보지 못했던 ‘늦은 비’라는 엄청난 성령의 부음을 묘사합니다. 이 일을 통해 하나님은 “내가 내 영을 만민에게 부어 주리니 너희 자녀들이 장래 일을 말할 것이며 너희 늙은이는 꿈을 꾸며 너희 젊은이는 이상을 볼 것”이라 약속하십니다.
Although Joel speaks with army terms as if there will be some kind of military unit on the ground, the Holy Spirit, here, is talking about spiritual warfare. Joel's Army of God uses spiritual weapons.
여기서 요엘은 군에서나 사용할 법한 명칭들을 사용하고 마치 전투부대를 연상시키는 말을 하지만 이 말씀을 통해 성령은 영적 전쟁에 대해 우리에게 말씀하십니다. 요엘과 함께한 하나님의 군대는 영적 무기를 사용합니다.
God, speaking through the Prophet Zechariah, said, "Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of Hosts." (Zec 4:6) The Apostle Paul wrote that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds." (2 Cor 10:4, NKJV) These spiritual weapons described by Paul seem to have been first exercised by the followers of Jesus when Jesus sent the Seventy out two by two into every city and place He intended to go, with the mission to preach and heal the sick. (Lk 10:1-19) They returned with joy to report that even demons were subject to them in His name.
선지자 스가랴를 통해 하나님께서는 “힘으로 되지 아니하며 능력으로 되지 아니하고 오직 나의 영으로” 싸운다고 말씀하시고 (스가랴 4:6) 사도 바울 역시 “우리의 싸우는 무기는 육신에 속한 것이 아니요 오직 어떤 견고한 진도 무너뜨리는 하나님의 능력이라”고 합니다 (고후10:4). 바울이 여기서 말한 영적 무기는 처음 예수님께서 72인의 제자들을 쌍쌍이 보내셨을 때 쓰인 것으로 보입니다. (눅 10:1-19) 제자들은 기쁨으로 돌아와 귀신들마저 예수님의 이름으로 항복시켰다고 보고합니다.
Jesus charged His followers to go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole of creation. Jesus said, These signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will drive out demons. No deadly thing will harm them, and they will lay hands on the sick and they will get well. (Mk 16:15-18, HCSB paraphrased)
예수님께서는 그의 제자들에게 모든 세상으로 가서 모든 피조물에게 복음을 전하라 하셨습니다. 또한, 믿는 자들에게는 다음과 같은 표적이 있을 것이라 하십니다: “그들이 내 이름으로 귀신을 쫓아내며 새 방언을 말하며 뱀을 집어올리며 무슨 독을 마실지라도 해를 받지 아니하며 병든 사람에게 손을 얹은즉 나으리라” (막 16:16-18, 개역개정)
At the Last Supper Jesus explained the importance of miracles and signs and wonders. Philip asked Him, Show us the Father. Jesus must have sighed as he said, Don't you know that the Father is in Me and I am in the Father? If you do not believe that, at least believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. (Jn 14:8-11)
최후의 만찬에서 예수님은 기적과 표적과 기사의 중요성을 설명하십니다. 빌립이 “주여 아버지를 보여주옵소서”라고 물었을 때 예수님은 아마도 한숨을 내쉬시며 이렇게 말씀하셨을 것이라 생각합니다: 내가 아버지 안에 거하고 아버지는 내 안에 계신 것을 네가 믿지 아니하느냐? 그렇지 못하겠거든 행하는 그 일로 말미암아 나를 믿으라 (요 14:10-11)
While John the Baptist was in prison awaiting his execution, he began to lose faith and sent messengers to Jesus asking Jesus to assure him that He was the Messiah. Jesus replied, go tell John that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the gospel is preached. (Lk 7:21-22) And, finally, John tells us that Jesus performed many signs and miracles so that we would believe He is the Son of God, and in believing have eternal life. (Jn 21:30-31) So in looking at what Jesus said to Philip at the Last Supper, Jesus' message to John the Baptist shortly before his death, and the Apostle John's conclusion to his Gospel, it is clear that Jesus proclaimed that the purpose of miracles, signs and wonders is to demonstrate the healing presence of God the Father.
세례요한이 감옥에서 형이 집행되기를 기다릴 당시에 그는 믿음을 잃기 시작하며 예수님께 사람을 보내 예수님이 메시야임을 확인하도록 합니다. 예수님은 그들에게 이렇게 말씀하십니다. “너희가 가서 보고 들은 것을 요한에게 알리되 맹인이 보며 못 걷는 사람이 걸으며 나병환자가 깨끗함을 받으며 귀먹은 사람이 들으며 죽은 자가 살아나며 가난한 자에게 복음이 전파된다 하라” (눅 7:22) 사도요한은 예수님이 많은 표적을 행하셨는데 이것을 기록한 이유는 우리가 예수님이 하나님의 아들 그리스도이심을 믿게 하려 함이요 또 우리가 믿고 그 이름을 힘입어 생명을 얻게 하려 함이라고 하였습니다. (요 21:30-31) 따라서 마지막 만찬에서 예수님이 빌립에게 하신 말씀과, 죽음을 당하시기 전에 세례요한에게 하셨던 말씀, 그리고 사도요한이 요한복음을 맺으며 쓴 글을 봤을 때 분명히 예수님은 기적과 표적과 기사를 행하시는 이유가 아버지 하나님의 치유되는 임재하심을 보여주기 위함이라는 것을 말씀하고 계십니다.
Immediately following the resurrection, Jesus instructed his disciples to remain in Jerusalem and wait on the Holy Spirit. He said, "You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses . . . to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8, HCSB) On the Day of Pentecost, 50 days after Jesus's Resurrection, the Holy Spirit fell on 120 of Jesus' followers gathered together in constant prayer in Jerusalem. Then the remaining Apostles, who had cowardly abandoned Jesus to avoid being caught up in His arrest and crucifixion, were baptized by the Holy Spirit. They were instantly transformed into fearless evangelists. (Acts 2 and 4)
부활하신 예수님께서는 자신의 제자들에게 예루살렘에 남아 성령을 기다리라고 하셨습니다. 말씀하시길, “오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고… 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라” 하셨습니다. (행 1:8, 개역개정) 예수님이 부활하신지 50일째 되는 오순절 당일, 기도하기 위해 모였던 120명의 제자들 위에 성령이 강림하셨고 예수님을 두고 도망갔던 사도들 역시 성령세례를 받는 일이 일어납니다. 사도행전 2장과 4장에 나오듯이 그들은 한 순간 두려움 없는 전도사들이 되어버립니다.
Jesus assured the Disciples at the Last Supper, that he who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. Indeed, they will do even greater works because He would go to the Father. (Jn 14:12)
마지막 만찬에서 예수님은 제자들에게 자신을 믿는 자는 예수님이 하시는 일을 그도 할 것이요 또한 그보다 큰 일도 하리니 이는 예수님이 아버지께로 가시기 때문이라고 하십니다. (요 14:12)
So it was that the Apostles also healed the sick and raised the dead. Peter and John passed a man crippled from birth who sat at the entrance to the Temple. They said, Look at us. And fixing his attention on the Apostles, expecting to receive something. Peter said, Silver and gold I do not have but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. Immediately his feet and ankle bones gained strength, and he leaped up, stood, and walked. (Acts 3:3-8) Believers brought the sick out onto street in the hope that even the shadow of Peter might cover them, and they were all healed. And the Scriptures tells us that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from Paul to sick people and the diseases and evil spirits left them. (Acts 19:12) At Troas Paul raised the young man Eutychus from the dead. (Acts 20:9-12) And Peter raised Dorcas from the dead at Joppa. (Acts 9:36-40)
그래서 사도들은 그 이후로 병든 자를 고치고 죽은 자를 살려냅니다. 어느 날 베드로와 요한은 성문 앞에서 앉은뱅이를 만납니다. 그들은 태어날 때부터 걷지 못한 남자를 보고 “우리를 보시오”라고 말합니다. 무언가를 받겠지 생각하는 앉은뱅이에게 베드로는 “은과 금은 내게 없거니와 내게 있는 이것을 네게 주노니 나사렛 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 일어나 걸으라” 라고 합니다. 잡아 일으키는 순간 그의 발과 발목에 힘이 들어가고 뛰기고 하고 걷기도 했다고 기록되어 있습니다. (행 3:3-8) 믿는 사람들이 아픈 사람들을 데리고 베드로의 그림자라도 만져보겠다는 마음으로 다가섰을 때 나았다고 합니다. 바울이 가지고 다니던 손수건을 만져도 아픈 사람들이 낫고 귀신을 쫓았다고 성경은 증거합니다. (행19:12) 드로아에서 바울은 죽었던 유두고를 살리기도 하고 (행20:9-12) 욥바에서는 죽었던 도르가도 살립니다. (행 9:36-40)
Today, those baptized in the Holy Spirit are going forth all over the world with stunning signs and wonders, as the vanguard of Joel's Army. We do not hear much about it because, as Jesus said, the enemy is the prince of this world (Jn 12:31, 14:30, and 16:11) and the world hates believers. (Jn 15:18-19) Moreover the Apostle Paul explained that satan, whom Paul goes so far as to call the "god of this age," blinds unbelievers so that the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ may not shine on them. (2 Cor 4:4) So week after week the world media ignores the moving of the Holy Spirit and tends to limit its coverage of Christians to their perception of what is newsworthy.
오늘날 성령세례를 받은 이들은 요엘의 군대처럼 위대한 표적과 기사를 행하며 온 세계를 다닙니다. 우리는 그들에 대해 자주 듣지 못하는데, 그 이유는 예수님이 말씀하신 것처럼 사단이 세상의 임금이고 (요 12:31, 14:30, 16:11) 세상은 믿는 자들을 미워하기 때문입니다. Mahesh Chavda, based at a pastorate in North Carolina, travels the world, through the power of God's Spirit, he has raised the dead and healed hundreds or thousands. Brother Eddie Villanueva of the Philippines, ordained by Pentecostal Evangelist Mike McKinney, through the working of the Holy Spirit, has birthed and grown his movement Jesus Is Lord to 7 millions members, and has been described as one of only a handful of men in the entire world who can command a meeting of over 1 million believers. Evangelist A.L. Gill at the age of 71 has traveled to more than 81 countries, estimates he has more than 250,000 students of the bible, and through the power of the Holy Spirit healed the blind and deaf. Spirit-filled Korean Pastor David Yong Gi Cho, began a street ministry immediately following the Korean war with only an army tent, that the Holy Spirit has now increased to more than 1 million members. Pastor Chuck Smith while pastoring a tiny church, received a prophesy he would be called to lead a miraculous movement of God at a church along the ocean. Later he answered a call to pastor another small church in Costa Mesa, California called Calvary Chapel. Today, Calvary Chapel ministers, initially coming out of Costa Mesa, have planted hundreds of churches all over the globe, including more than 600 in Russia alone. They say there is no secret to their success. They simply preach the Word of God with no frills, verse by verse, neither adding nor subtracting, and the Word, which is the power to know Jesus and salvation, manifests itself through the power of the living God.

All these movements of the Holy Spirit have a common thread - each was initiated by a man or woman reaching out to God with faithfulness, purity, and obedience, without substantial aid of any large church or denomination directing them. And while the old, main-line churches continue to align themselves with inconsequential institutions of man, becoming increasingly impotent, Spirit-filled believers continue to multiply and bear magnificent fruit.
앞서 열거한 모든 성령의 움직임에는 한가지 공통점이 있었는데 그것은 바로 한 사람이 신실함, 순결함, 순종으로 하나님을 갈구했고 그들은 큰 교회나 교단의 도움 없이 사역을 시작했습니다. 오래된 교단들이 힘을 잃어가는 요즘, 성령에 이끌린 많은 사람들이 열매를 맺고 있습니다.
This Army of Joel operates in the Spirit with powers, signs and wonders because they love Jesus, and have given their lives to Him with purity and unflinching faith, believing on the Word of God that greater works they will do because Jesus has gone to the Father. (John 14:12) They believe that when you do God's will "No weapon formed against you will prosper," (Is 54:17) and "The fear of man brings a snare but whoever trusts in LORD will be safe." (Prov 29:25) They know that "For with God all things are possible." (Mk 9:23 and 10:27) In return for their faith, God honors them with supernatural powers that enable them to do His work. (Php 4:13)
요엘의 군대는능력과 표적과 기사를 보이시는 성령 안에서 행동합니다. 이들은 “나를 믿는 자는 내가 하는 일을 그도 할 것이요 또한 그보다 큰 일도 하리” (요14:12) 라고 말씀하신 예수님의 말씀을 믿는 믿음과 예수님에 대한 사랑으로 전진합니다. 또한 그들은 “너를 치려고 벼린 무기가 소용이 없을 것이고” (사54:17) “사람을 두려워하면 올무에 걸리게 되거니와 여호와를 의지하는 자는 안전하리라” (잠29:25)고 믿습니다. “믿는 자에게는 능히 하지 못할 일이 없다”고 (막 9:23, 10:27) 말씀하신 예수님이 그 믿음에 보답하여 사역을 할 수 있는 초자연적인 능력을 주십니다 (빌4:13).
Each will no doubt tell you, it is not about them, it is all about Jesus - it's about being a servant, and the redemptive power of the Blood of Christ.
앞에 기록된 모든 사람들은 이 모든 것이 자신과 상관있는게 아니라 예수님에 의한 일이라는 것을 증거할 것입니다. 이들의 사역은 그들이 그리스도의 종이 되어 예수 그리스도의 보혈의 능력을 증거하는 것일 뿐입니다.
You can enlist in Joel's Army and take part in changing the world for good in the greatest battle of all time. You will not get a uniform or dog tags. Rather you get everlasting rewards. You join up by falling madly in love with Jesus. Do faith. Faith is an action verb so don't just have faith, but do it! Pray unceasingly, pray for the missions, and leaders, and the disadvantaged and poor. Pray for blessings for others and spiritual gifts for yourself. Stay in the Word. Read and listen to Scripture all the time. Faith comes by hearing the Word. Become informed about the spiritual world around you and don't just accept the knowledge of the material world that the prince of this world wants you to believe. Evil spirits will come against you so always test your beliefs and experiences by checking with the Word of God, based on solid Biblical teaching. Do not forsake the gathering together with believers. Iron sharpens iron so go to church at a Bible believing fellowship that puts the Word of God first. Listen and be guided by your pastor. And pray, pray, pray.
여러분도 요엘의 군대에 참여하여 세기의 전쟁에 참여할 수 있습니다. 이 군대는 군복이나 군번을 지급하지 않습니다. 하지만 영원한 상을 얻게 됩니다. 예수님과 깊이 사랑에 빠진 이들이 이 군대에 속하게 됩니다. 믿음을 실행하십시오. 믿음은 행동적인 동사이기 때문에 믿음을 가지지만 말고 실행해야 하는 것입니다. 기도를 멈추지 말고, 세상의 선교를 위해 기도하고, 그 리더들과 힘없고 가난한 자들을 위해서 기도하십시오. 다른 이를 축복하는 기도를 하고 자신의 성령의 은사를 위해 기도하십시오. 말씀에 거하십시오. 성경을 항상 읽고 들으십시오. 믿음은 들음에서 나는 것입니다. 여러분 주위의 영적인 세계에 민감해지시고 세상의 물질적인 것들을 신봉하지 마십시오. 그것은 악마가 바라는 것입니다. 악한 영들이 항상 여러분의 길을 방해할 것이니 자신의 믿음과 경험을 성경에 빗대어 시험하십시오. 모이기를 게을리 하지 마시고 믿는 이들과 만나십시오. 철이 철을 가는 것 같이 성경을 우선시하는 교회에 나가시고 목사님의 조언에 귀 기울이십시오. 그리고 기도하고 또 기도하십시오.
